Introducing the "HeArt of the Garden" Community Arts Peace Project
Invitation to join "This Wonderful World"
Happy Spring! I’m so excited for the spring season of This Wonderful World to officially start next week on the new moon solar eclipse.
But before we start, I’d like to share a little more about this season’s theme, and the new, and super exciting, community feature that’s coming out with it.
First, let’s look at where This Wonderful World began, and where it’s taken us so far.
This Wonderful World started as a personal peace project:
to empower myself as an environmental steward and grow hope through that empowerment
to continue to grow and heal my heart through my Living Mirror practice of creative reflection.
The show started in Fall 2022 as I volunteered for and became an intern for a non-profit in my home county (Putah Creek Council) that’s dedicated to stewarding the watershed that provides the county’s water. In that season, I learned the basic principles of environmental stewardship. You can check out that season here.
The next season, Spring 2023, was focused on applying principles of sustainability to an urban context. I worked with a local non-profit (Sustainable Solano) that educates and engages the community through community gardens, sustainable backyards, and home water-saving systems. In that season, I deepened my understanding of permaculture and how it can be applied in our own homes. You can see that season here.
Then, the last season, Fall 2023, I integrated and applied everything I had learned in the previous two seasons to the sustainable transformation of my grandma’s front yard. In the process, I used my practice of creative reflection to heal from the passing of my grandmother (and ultimately her home -and the garden I had invested so much into installing). You can see that season all here when you become a paid subscriber on Substack. You can also learn more about how I transformed my yard in a video series that I made about Sustainable Lawn transformations here.
Now, in this season, the focus will be on including YOU. As an artist, director, community builder, and teacher, creating content that’s engaging, connecting, and inclusive is essential to me. That’s why this season I’ll be sharing the new community feature that invites you to join me in This Wonderful World through the HeArt of the Garden Community Peace Project.
HeArt of the Garden is designed to empower us all as environmental stewards and agents of peace. This starts with nourishing our own hearts by merging creative reflection with service to the Earth.
For the next 5 weeks, on each phase of the moon I’ll share:
My own songs and stories from This Wonderful World to illustrate what we get to do together
When you become a subscriber, you’ll get access to:
One of the core elements of the HeArt of the Garden Community Arts Peace Project in a digital picture book that you can read
I’m so excited to begin this new chapter with you 💗
Thanks so much for joining me in This Wonderful World.
