downWhen I'm wrecked and worried about what’s to come, I think of the navigators who follow the sun- who follow the moon when the sun is gone, who map the stars when the moon's withdrawn, who follow the waves when the sky is grey, who follow the wind on foggy days, who follow the rocking of the boat- the currents that carry the drifters afloat, who strike their sails when all else fails, but never give up, and never bail as they wait faithfully to temper the storm until the air clears for the sky to inform with birds, who too, follow the sun, the stars and magnetics, the smell of the ocean. When I worry about what’s comin’, I remember how life gives a compass: to guide us through every sailing surprise with brand-new senses when we lose our sight, to offer a hand when’ve gone astray, when we’ve become lost, when our gadgets break- I am amazed: Step-by-step and day-by-day, we’re still here, my love- we’re still finding our way.
I’ve got a special natural navigation tool that I’m excited to share soon with you! Until then, here’s some resources to nerd-out on natural navigation (around world and throughout time):
