About Me, Alana
With a mom who got me into community theater and a dad who got me into his family’s environmental camp, I was born to merge my love for the Earth, and its people, with the arts.
Still, coming from a family of educators, I started life as a credentialed public school teacher. However, budget cuts, illness, and calling to write and sing for peace sent me on an epic adventure of personal healing where I was guided by the question:
“What does it really mean that peace begins with me?”
In the process, I was certified as a Depth Hypnosis Practitioner, a therapeutic process (developed by Dr. Isa Gucciardi) that's rooted in transpersonal psychology, hypnotherapy, and the wisdom traditions from many cultures around the world.
Not long after, I studied Storybridge, a creative approach to social and personal transformation through community storytelling.
Along the way, I also studied environmental stewardship, environmental education, and community permaculture.
Meanwhile, my commitment to reflective arts has helped me to heal from debilitating anxiety and depression, as well to as grow peace in the foundational relationships that were impacted by my mental illness.
To share my love and gratitude, I began developing The Living Mirror Project with songwriting and storytelling workshops to support the communities who so generously support this work.
You can follow my ongoing journey here on Substack in This Wonderful World, a living musical of how the metaphors of the Earth fortify my faith in myself, in life, and in the transformational realization that love for one is love for all.
I’m so grateful to share the miracle of the Living Mirror at a time when growing love has never been more essential.
