In a world where existential threats saturate our lives, where fight and flight responses run on all-time high, I can understand why it’s been so hard to come together: fear and grief result naturally in defensiveness and anger. And yet, there're brave souls everywhere (and I’d say within us all) who show up to love (anyway) to heed the heart's hard call: to look in the mirror and dig down deep, to find the voice within that still believes in peace. This song is dedicated to those who've given me the courage to turn the threats of life into the greatest challenge. You give me a new shade of confidence: the confidence to recognize how I've hurt with blinded eyes, how my weakness and my aches have spilled across the line. Because you make it safe to see where I'm still healing, you give me the strength to keep my heart learning- to say that I don’t know and to wonder how'll grow with so much uncertainty and so much at stake, with so much triggered and so much pain- I'm amazed I've made it this far and absolutely certain: I've been made stronger by your humble confessions, by those who bore their wounds and showed me where they fell, I have found the courage to ride this ocean swell. Still, I don't have any clue how we'll make it through, but I do know it's made me brave to dedicate to you. Through every fissure and every crack, through every chasm of the heart, through all things that push and pull to tear us all apart: When you say that you love me, through the hot and the hard, my defenses melt into your loving arms.
